MFA students attend Venice Biennale with support from Bernstein Foundation
Three second-year painting MFA students in Alfred University’s School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics, recently attended the 2024 Venice Biennale. The art exhibition, held every two years, draws renown artists and scholars from around the world.
The students – Natalia Velez Carrero, Lindsay Lennon Picht, and Ivy Vallely – made the trip to Italy with support from the Bernstein Family Foundation.
The Biennale takes place around the city of Venice, so not only did the students get to attend the monumental art event, they also had the pleasure of exploring the culture and beauty of Venice itself.
The Biennale has taken place since 1895, carrying much significance both within and outside the art world. It continues to have a hand in shaping the visual culture of today. Around eighty-eight countries participated in the 2024 Biennale, providing many international perspectives for the students to experience and learn from.
